A Hard Rains A-Gonna Fall (1963)

Folk music is a necessary part of any culture. In the 1960s, folk music was associated with the rock community, but it lacked any of the musical rock elements. There is often only a single guitar accompanying a voice, and usually the singer is also the guitarist. For this reason, the expression is personal: one person telling a story. The most important musical element is that the musical accompaniment must be the servant of the words. In this performance, the guitar strums the same pattern throughout the song. The story is in front of musical technique. Even the singing is not trained but is just a step above talking. There are rhythmic extensions and even truncated at times. The accompaniment follows the words. If the words are communicated, then it is of no consequence.
